Well, my baby has gotten another year older and while I wish I could keep her a baby forever, I love seeing what a big girl she is growing up to be. This year I thought I would take the easy way out and hired a company to do all of the decorations and entertainment. The only thing I had to do was the food and goodie bags. Yeah, right it is never that easy is it? Of course, I had to put my spin on everything and made table signs for all of the food. And with the food, I kinda went all out snack crazy so I ended up being awake until 2:oo am the morning of the party. The Baconator ended up helping the party person set up most of the big stuff because they were short staffed so we didn’t get to sit out and observe quite like we planned. I think next year, I will be keeping things smaller and just do it all myself. But hey, you live and you learn right? In the end, the kids all had a blast and the birthday girl loved it. That’s all that matters. Ok, on to the photos!

Since I love design so much I thought I would do a little feature every now and then when something out of the ordinary really catches my eye. It could be a business, online shop, magazine, etc….just something that tickles my design fancy. :) I actually wrote this post as an article to an online magazine which unfortunately didn’t get off of the ground. No worries though, you guys can enjoy a little eye candy on me.

Nestled 30 miles south of Atlanta in the small sustainable neighborhood of Serenbe, The Blue Eyed Daisy bakeshop stands out as a mix of modern and vintage…a modern day Mayberry if you will.

The Blue Eyed Daisy’s branding shows up even before you walk in the door. Their retro inspired logo is painted on the brick facade amid the distressed blue tables that line the front of the bakeshop.

When you enter through the large old wooden doors, you are transported back to a simpler time. Vintage touches of mismatched tables and unfinished wood shelves meet the clean lines of the oversized cabinet behind the counter, where the menu and daily specials are written out in chalk. Colorful candy filled tins sit on top of the sleek, chrome bakery cooler that displays all sorts of wonderful treats.

The logo shows up on everything from the menu to the sign you get when you are waiting for your order to be delivered to your table.

Although their website is only a few pages, it keeps with the entire look of the shop. A little vintage and a little modern…The Blue Eyed Daisy knows what their brand is and keeps true to it in everything they do.

If you are in the Atlanta are and haven’t taken a trip down to Serenbe, it is completely worth the drive!

So I have decided to do the reveal on Monday…I realize it’s a holiday but there is no rest for the weary and since Amanda has agreed to come in and help me it works out for the best. I am so excited because I have literally spent every non-working hour on the new website for WRITE WITH MOXIE. We are also going to be offering wholesale to brick and mortar stores so I had to make sure that was all up to par.

Here is one more teaser pic, just because. ;) Until Monday!

Yes, who does a photo shoot for pencils? Well, I do of course! ;) I am putting together a wholesale catalog and really wanted it to look great and pop so I grabbed the kids and headed out to a few different places around town to snap some photos of them. I ended up using Gia the most (she was into the drawing part of it all) so I thought I would share one of the photos.

I got a lot of great shots that ended up working really well for the website. In between all of my client projects, I will be changing over the Etsy shop to the new products and hopefully finishing up the website so it can be live next week. The actual product is not going to change but the packaging and quantities are. The new packaging I designed is recycled kraft tubes with WRITE WITH MOXIE stamped on the side and a cool paper tape band. The pencils will now come in 5 piece, 10 piece or the variety set of 9. I also have a set of color pencils to add as well as 2 new stamp designs.

Amanda is going to help me put together the layout for the catalog and a few promo postcards to send out to potential shops. Did I tell you how much I love having an assistant that is in design school? Ok, I am rubbing it in again…sorry!

Over the last few days, I have been looking around for some props to use for the upcoming photo shoot for WRITE WITH MOXIE. With the new website, I also want to put together a bold and graphic online look book that shows all of the fun things you can do with all of my products. This would be used mainly for marketing to small stationery shops and boutiques. So anyway, during the search I came across, Say Cheese, a really cool paper prop company. Besides their products, I absolutely love their logo. Check them out if you are looking for something fun to spruce up your photos.

I was photographing my new product line last night and noticed that there was a weird smudge on each image. I thought it maybe something on the lens (in this house all sorts of things end up on my lenses) but after cleaning it, the smudge remained. I had noticed that my images weren’t coming out quite as nice as they used to and the smudge was just adding to my disappointment. After looking online and contemplating…I set out with the fam and bought a new camera body. I really needed one anyway since mine is more than a few years old. Ok, so I didn’t NEED one but I have been wanting one for quite awhile. ;) I opted for an updated version of my Canon Rebel XT (the T2i). Of course, I wanted the big Daddy 5D but I couldn’t see parting with $1200 so I got the smaller version.

I am going to take my old Rebel to the camera shop and see if it can be fixed for a reasonable price. If so, I plan on selling it for a really good price. Interested?
