So are you still with me? I know I am a slacker when it comes to my blog. I have been super busy (doesn’t everyone always say that when they are starting to slack off?) but things are looking up since I now have an assistant! Oh yes, you heard me…an actual assistant. Can you tell I am beyond excited? I want to make an official introduction soon but I have to see if I can snap a pic of her to post on the blog. Her name is Wanda and she is not only my assistant but also my Mom! How is that for a little role reversal? haha She recently retired from her job after 30 something years (she has been at that job longer than I have been on this earth). Most people can’t work with family but we actually have a pretty good working relationship. We ran a children’s clothing label years ago so we have worked together in the past with no problems. This time I am boss so it’s kinda funny that I get to tell her what to do. No, I haven’t abused my power yet. It has given me the opportunity to do a lot on the marketing side of things that I didn’t have the time before so I am designing, designing, designing for myself this weekend. Yes, and the website (and probably the blog) will be changing as well. I am excited about the new modern and bold colors I am using.

So what else is new? Oh, we also got a pool put in a few weeks ago. It’s not a huge pool but it works for the 4 of us. That has been an awesome investment so far since the temps haven’t been below 95 in weeks (uughh and it’s not even August yet). We are definitely using it everyday and since it doesn’t cool off here until October we are definitely going to get our money out of it. The backyard looks a bit crazy since they had to grade the hill to put it in. We are looking forward to getting our deck put up and having some Summer pool parties.

Do you need a little photo editing help but you don’t want to make the investment in Photoshop? Picnik.com may be the answer to your prayers. Most of my clients don’t own Photoshop and when it comes to cropping and resizing their photos it is not always the easiest thing for them. That is why I started recommending Picnik for a fast and inexpensive solution. It is super easy to use but I still wanted to put together a little basic tutorial. Hope you enjoy!

The new office of Moxie Pear

Wow! Has it been a week already? As you will see I have been a pretty busy girl. If you follow me on Twitter then you probably already know what the big news I eluded to last week was. Yes, Moxie Pear finally has an outside office! After working from home for over 4 years, it was definitely time. There is something so nice about “going to work” and not having to stare at my house all day. I was as excited as a pig in slop (throwing a little country lingo at ya) when I found the space. Originally, my goal was to find an office by the end of the year but then things just sort of came together before then so I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by.

You see I am a true believer in things happening for a reason. I was actually out looking at another space when I passed by this old house right off the square in McDonough. It used to be a real estate office and back in my eBay days, I used to take photos of Gia on the porch. It has since been turned into offices and so I stopped by to see if they had anything available. Well, low and behold they did and when I saw the office I was in love! It had everything I was looking for…one hundred and twenty year old hardwood floors, original windows, doors and knobs and 12ft bead board ceilings…oh yes, lots of lovelies! And it was right in my budget. See, things happen for a reason right?

So a fresh coat of paint and two trips to IKEA later, I had a new office! It seems simple but it took a lot of work (mostly done by The Baconator whom I love with all my heart). I also have a space for my new intern (yes, more exciting things coming soon). I don’t have all of my supplies there yet. My vinyl logo came today so I am excited to put that up tomorrow. I also have to fill up my Mason Jars with colored candies and I am waiting for my monitor and keyboard so I will have more photos coming soon once everything is completely in place. Until then, here is a little sneak peek…

Aren’t these tulips the prettiest? I vowed to have fresh flowers on my desk at all time so I stopped and grabbed these at Publix this morning. I should have grabbed two bunches because my vase was bigger than I thought…note to self, swing by Publix again in the morning.
