meet Amanda

October 23, 2011

my assistant

So I am finally getting a chance to officially introduce Amanda! I have to say that deciding to hire her was one of the best business decisions I have ever made. I am definitely an “I can do it myself” type of person so letting go of tasks was difficult at first but so worth it in the end. Just the stress relief from the email alone is worth it! She can vouch for how much email I receive everyday! ;) Without further ado, here is a little more about Amanda in her own words…

Hi! I’m Amanda, and I’m a Graphic Design student at Southern Crescent Technical College in Griffin, GA (Griffin Tech to the locals). I have always been a very creative person, just ask anyone who knows me! I decided to take on a degree in graphic design because I love to draw, and as a graphic designer I knew I could merge my creativity with a career that I would love, and one that would maybe someday lead me to my ultimate career goal – game design.

That’s right, I’m a total nerd! Growing up I played some really great computer games—and still do— as well as console games (Zelda or Final Fantasy, anyone?), and it inspired me to create my own computer game. It’s still in the concept phase, but I hope to see it published one day. Because I can never sit still (anyone who knows me will tell you that, too!) I have opened a shop on Etsy to sell my other creations. I have a line of decorated bottles I am currently selling but have recently launched a decorated candle line that I’m really excited about!

As for my job, I have enjoyed working with Lisa so far. She is an amazingly talented designer and we have a lot of fun around the office. I’m also thankful she chose my crazy self to work for her!

new site launch {holly christine}

October 7, 2011

I am a bit behind on actually showing you guys what I work on every day of my life. ;) I recently did a website design for Holly Christine. I did her original logo design last year and I am so glad she came back to me when she was ready for a full fledged website. I definitely used a lot of the whimsy and hand drawn elements that she has in her art…it completely inspired me. :)

If you are looking for a unique gift for just about anyone, you definitely have to check out her website. Thanks Holly, it was a pleasure getting to work with you again!

Modern Monday with…Me!

September 19, 2011

Yep, it’s back to the grind and Amanda and I are hard at work trying to play catch up from last week but I wanted to let you know about a cool post. The lovely and talented Bridgett of Perideau Designs recently interviewed me about my business. Take a moment to check it out and comment if you feel so inclined. :)

Continuity

September 1, 2011

So how do you take 3 different websites and blend them seamlessly into a coordinated brand? Well, I have found that this task is just as hard as it seems. With the addition of a website for WRITE WITH MOXIE, I knew I had to find a way to combine all of my brands so they related to each other. I wanted each to have a “look” that would reflect their relation without being all matchy matchy. Since I have the packaging and colors for WWM already, I started there and then found a way to make the blog and Moxie Pear coordinate. After hours on the computer working out color combinations, background and font changes I think I finally came up with a pretty good solution.

As you can see, that means the blog colors have changed (once again) but the layout still remains the same. I really love the layout of the blog and Moxie Pear website so I wanted those to pretty much stay the same. The main change was to the color palette and use of background textures to tie everything together. I absolutely love the color and look of cardboard (yes, weird I know) and since that is where my packaging went, I decided to start from there. Hopefully, I will be launching WWM in the next week (just working out the kinks).

I also changed out all of my photos in my Etsy shop to reflect the new website. I am still contemplating on keeping that shop open once the website is up. I am leaning toward yes at least for awhile because I do get a lot of traffic via Etsy and that is always a good thing when a new product is concerned.

Speaking of new products, I hope to focus on some business related posts very soon on the blog. I am trying to get over a hump of client installation and all around business but I have a list of topics pinned right beside my desk that keeps growing and I need to do something about it.

Oh and I am looking for blogs that would like to offer a pencil giveaway for the launch at the beginning of September. If you are interested, shoot me an email! :)
