Sunday inspiration

On Saturday, we cleaned out and rearranged the toy room (aka my old home office). Everyone now has their own little space to keep clean. Of course, Gia is the worst…that girl can make a mess in 2.5 seconds, then refuses to clean it up. We are working on that though.

Today I got a chance to sit down (in my new craft space) and finish my inspiration book. I love the idea of having an inspiration board but it’s just not feasible because I need something I can carry around with me from the office and home. I have really been inspired recently by interior spaces…I have a slight obsession with DIY and interior design magazines. I thought it would be nice to put them all in a book that I can flip through when I am feeling a bit uninspired. I happen to have two notebooks so I gave one to Gia so she could join me. She loves when we do “craft projects” together.

I just took white cardstock and glued all of the things I had previously cut out onto each one and put them in sheet protectors. Then I took a plain recycled binder and covered it with fabric using a tacking spray. Unfortunately, I ran out of spray so we had to improvise with Gia’s – she ended up just using my crayons to color all over it and it turned out great.

I didn’t get any photos of Gia’s book, I think she got bored after the first page and gave up on the inside. I decided that I am going to use it to put her artwork from school in.

Stay-cation and Inspiration

This week I am on stay-cation from Moxie Pear. I usually take a week during the Summer when The Baconator is on vacation but this year we stayed at home and I got to catch up on some personal projects I haven’t had time for. It has been extremely productive and nice that I can take a few minutes and go jump in the pool with the family. We did go to Callaway Gardens for two days and it was beautiful (loads of photos to download, edit and post). We sweated like crazy but it was still a good time. Here is little peek at some of what I was working on…

I get inspiration from all over the place but when it came to deciding on my new web/blog design I was a bit stuck. I find it so hard to design for myself sometimes. I think a lot of designers have the same problem. I knew what sort of style I wanted to convey but trying to get there was so hard. Yes, I realize that this may have something to do with the fact that I change my look every few months (and I may be running out of ideas of my own) but I love change so I am not trying to deny it anymore. I am embracing my design ADD.

So anyway, back to design and inspiration. Sometimes it helps to step out of the box and try something a little different and this time I decided to go with a photo collage that I found absolutely inspirational. What is the photo of? Oh a wedding theme of course! Yep, if you ever get stuck for color inspiration just Google wedding or party themes and you have tons of inspiration right at your fingertips. Here is the photo that I was so inspired by.

Don’t you just love those colors together? I wouldn’t have chosen teal and tangerine at first glance but when I saw this I knew that was it (at least for a little while..hehehe). So you’ve seen the blog, what do you think? I still have a few kinks to work out with the website but here is a little sampling of the home page. I hope to have it all ready to launch on Monday when I am officially back to work.

I am also working on some cool marketing materials that I am excited to share with everyone. Sorry for the absence lately but I promise to be present and posting from now on.

Liberty of London is at Target! Can you hear my excitement? There are so many things that I want from their collection. I have my eye on this and this and this (and a ton of other things). I think my favorite thing is this super nifty bicycle. Now, I am not an outdoorsy bike riding kind of girl but I could see myself on this riding through the neighborhood. It’s just so lovely.

A new blog and lots of inspiration!

I finally made the switch over to Wordpress. I have been wanting to do it for awhile now because there are so many cool things that you can do with this system. Simon did a fabulous job making my design come to fruition so big thanks to him for all of the hard work (and on my new website too, LOVE it!). I love that I can design and know that I don’t have to do the coding part (my least favorite thing about web design). This also gives me a chance to showcase what we can do with blog design. Sometimes, I have clients that don’t need the whole shebang when it comes to their business so this gives them a great option.

I also have big plans for the new blog with loads of features, giveaways and fun things. I have a whole folder of edited photos so watch out for lots of photography posts. If you haven’t notice a lot of my recent inspiration comes from the style and look of the fifties. For various reasons lately I have been very into that time period. I even gave my bangs a little retro cut (photo of that sometimes…maybe). So expect lots of things to be posted that inspire me. Being a creative professional (like that phrase right?) inspiration is extremely important to me, without it I would be out of a job so I think it’s important to inspire others if I can. I have several blog reads that are a “go to” when I need a little jolt and I love that so I am really building my new blog around that notion.

So speaking of all this inspiration, I found a new magazine that is completely awesome. I love typography and so every time I spot something with a cool font or layout, I try and snap a photo. Well, this one moved me so much that I snatched it up and purchased it. In fact, I am thinking about just breaking down and subscribing because there are so many cool ideas in it. It’s called freshHOME and it’s all about DIY projects for your house (another goal of mine this year…finish decorating my house).
