Vday printable freebies!

January 25, 2012

I wanted to design something a little less “cutesy” for this Valentine’s Day.  I started looking through some of my old illustrations and found this little whale I had done awhile back. (It was actually part of a logo concept for a client that wasn’t chosen). I immediately hopped on Google to see if I could find a pun that would match. Really, what is Valentine’s Day without a few puns? While it’s still got a little cute factor for the kids, I chose a more modern color palette and print for the paper.

We are very into origami bookmarks over here lately. If you purchase anything from Write With Moxie, you will see that up close and personal. ;) I just used a larger piece of paper to make a little “pouch” to hold the card and a little piece of candy. I even included illustrated directions for you! I just used a sucker but there is enough room to stuff it with all kinds of goodies.

Since most Valentine’s are pink and red, I thought I would make something for the boys as well. Both color palettes are included in the PDF!

And if that wasn’t enough, I also made little pillowboxes in the same print and colors.

You can download a PDF for each one below (or over there on the sidebar). Hope you enjoy!

friday fun – Paper crafting

January 7, 2012

For Christmas, my Mom gave me an Amazon gift card. Many of you may think that is an un-personal gift…but then again you don’t know about my obsession with books do you? When I got my iPad, I tried to do the whole ebook thing but it’s just not the same. I love the feel and smell of a new book. I love being able to dog ear the pages and go back to read what I may have forgotten. I have a mini library of sorts in my office, all of my books put into categories…I warned you it was an obsession at the beginning of this didn’t I?

Anyway, one of the 6 books I got was Paper Wonderland by Michelle Romo. I loved the illustrations and thought it would be fun for Gia and I to work on these little paper creations together.

After school today, we tackled the first one on her list. Yep, she made a list for the order she wants to go in with each project…oh she is her Mother’s child! The first one is a cute little toaster that actually works. Well, works if you have steady hands and not so much those of a 6 year old. We still thought it was cool though!

Our next one is a camera, which is super cute. I am thinking about putting these on a little shelf to just look at when the entire book is done. They really are that cute.

solution for pinterest problems

December 12, 2011

If you are a follower of the handmade community, then you may have heard about the goings on with Pinterest and DIY. Basically, there are some people who will pin handmade items to boards marked “DIY” or “Craft Projects” which leads smart minded people to the conclusion that they plan on ripping off said design and making it themselves…possibly for profit. While there is nothing new in this department, I came up with a solution that could help to alleviate the touchiness of it all. Enter Craftgawker. This site is devoted to nothing but DIY tutorials that people post so by using this as an inspiration point, you can go crazy with the DIY pins and not take a chance of offending someone or stepping on toes. Pretty nifty right? Yes, I thought so too. ;) Happy Pinning!

holly jolly printables

December 9, 2011

To continue the week of Christmas crafts, I thought I would put together a huge pack of fun printables! These could work for a number of projects, school parties, stocking stuffers, etc. You can find the individual PDFs on the sidebar. Just click, download, print and assemble! Yep, it’s that easy!

For the snowman poop, I used mini marshmallows. This is one of my favorite stocking stuffers for the kids. For the magic reindeer food, just mix together some quick oats and glitter. Hope you enjoy!
