our christmas

December 29, 2011

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! We are just getting back into the swing of things over here but with the kids out of school, it is a little chaotic. It also doesn’t help that my wisdom tooth has decided to act up so when I am not sleeping, I am half in and out of it on Vicodin…it makes for a really weird work environment! Sorry Amanda! ;)

We had a great Christmas and I think Santa was pretty good to everyone. Instead of trying to muster together sentences (thank you again Vicodin) I am just going to post a few photos from the weekend. :)

Cookies were decorated at my Mom’s house on Christmas Eve…I think we are going to make this a tradition.

Gia’s big present was a puppet theater (handmade in the USA). In fact, all of her toys this year were handmade. :)

Xander’s big gift was a Go Cart. Oh yes, his sister is loving it too!

One of my gifts was a lovely necklace from Merriweather Council. I have been admiring her designs since I did her website. The Baconator took notice. ;)

giveaways and more for your friday

December 16, 2011

So I leave you this Friday with me around the blogosphere. :) First, there is a giveaway going on over at Green Your Decor. It is a super cool blog about super cool eco friendly products and I was proud when Jennae asked me to participate. The giveaway ends on Monday so hurry your booty over there and enter to win.

Next, you can find my latest article at Oh My Handmade Goodness. It’s all about teaching the value of handmade with your kids. I had a lot of fun writing this one so I hope you enjoy it.

This weekend the kids are officially starting Christmas break so it will be two weeks of madness at The Bacon house. Lots of “Xander did this” and “Gia won’t leave me alone”. Now, I understand why my Mom yelled so much at my sister and I when we were younger! On a good note, all of my Christmas shopping is done. In fact, I didn’t even have to leave my house this year and it was awesome. Even the stocking stuffers were purchased online. Gotta love the internet!

I am working on a blog calendar for January to help keep all of my thoughts in place. As I said in a previous post, I hope to include more business related and crafty posts into the week. Until then, it will probably be a little sporadic around here with all of the madness of the Holidays. Have a great weekend everyone!

solution for pinterest problems

December 12, 2011

If you are a follower of the handmade community, then you may have heard about the goings on with Pinterest and DIY. Basically, there are some people who will pin handmade items to boards marked “DIY” or “Craft Projects” which leads smart minded people to the conclusion that they plan on ripping off said design and making it themselves…possibly for profit. While there is nothing new in this department, I came up with a solution that could help to alleviate the touchiness of it all. Enter Craftgawker. This site is devoted to nothing but DIY tutorials that people post so by using this as an inspiration point, you can go crazy with the DIY pins and not take a chance of offending someone or stepping on toes. Pretty nifty right? Yes, I thought so too. ;) Happy Pinning!
