Saturday with Donna Downey
So yesterday, my good friend Heather and I went to a class with Donna Downey. It was actually two classes and lasted pretty much all day. I am not a scrapbooker by any means so I was honestly a little apprehensive on how fun it would actually be. Plus, since it was about an hour away I had to wake up at 6:00 on a Saturday….if you know me, then you know that was a hard one!
All in all I have to say it was a complete blast! I learned so many cool painting and stamping techniques. I am taking what I learned and applying them more to mixed media type canvas art instead of scrapbooking. Donna was absolutely awesome — hilarious and just plain fun to be around. I was so submerged in the painting techniques at one point that it was actually quite therapeutic. This hasn’t happened to me with crafting in a long time. Here are some photos from the day.
Some of the resist techniques I did. My favorite was the tree. The orange is actually just crayon and then painted over. Gia really wants to do this one so I think we are going to try this together.

Donna and her husband. How cool is it that he helps her with the business? The Baconator would be like “you want me to what?”

A close up of my “fancy lady”. I loved how she turned out. It started with just a blank canvas shape and a few elements.

A pic of Heather’s workspace. I didn’t bring my zoom lens so I couldn’t take a pic of my own space close up. It looks pretty much the same…messy…fun but messy!

My canvas pages drying. I have to finish the backs but I need some more supplies to do it.

I’m so jealous! What great pictures and what a fun time we had. My pictures look rather skanky, so I will prob, not post them. I do want to blog about our trip. I have finished my canvas and I started on my album. I need more pictures. Holy cow, the thing keeps growing pages- LOL It’s been fun to work on thouhg and I am loving more and more.
